Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information InkRoar collects, how we use it, and the choices you have — including the choices you have around advertising. We keep it in plain English on purpose.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: username, email address, password (stored hashed), and optional profile details you add.
• Content: posts, comments, drafts, and reactions you create on the Service.
• Usage data: pages viewed, read time, votes, clicks, and similar activity used to run the feed, calculate creator earnings, and keep the platform safe.
• Payment details: the payout method and account identifier you provide to receive earnings. We never see or store full card numbers.
• Device data: IP address, browser type, and cookies needed for security, sessions, analytics, and advertising (see Section 4).

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate the Service: feeds, communities, profiles, and search.
• To measure views and engagement so we can calculate and pay creator earnings accurately.
• To provide optional AI-assisted writing features when you choose to use them. Text you submit to these features is processed to generate the assistance you requested and is not used to build advertising profiles.
• To show advertising, including through Google AdSense and other third-party ad networks (see Section 4).
• To detect fraud, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations.

3. What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your personal information.
• We don't read your private drafts for any purpose other than providing the Service and safety enforcement required by law.
• We don't require payment information unless you're receiving payouts.

4. Advertising & Cookies

InkRoar shows advertising to keep the Service free to use and to pay writers for their work. We use Google AdSense and may use other third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit InkRoar.

• These companies, including Google, use cookies (such as the Google advertising cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to InkRoar and other websites on the internet.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to InkRoar and/or other sites.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
• You can find more detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We use three categories of cookies: essential (login sessions, security, and load balancing — these can't be switched off), analytics (aggregate usage, e.g. Google Analytics, only if enabled by the site operator), and advertising (used by Google AdSense and similar networks to show and measure ads). When you first visit InkRoar, a banner lets you know cookies are in use and links back to this page; you can also control cookies at any time through your browser settings, or via the opt-out links above.

5. Sharing

We share information only with:

• Service providers who help us operate (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, AI processing), bound by contracts limiting their use of your data.
• Advertising partners, including Google AdSense, in aggregate or pseudonymous form for ad delivery and measurement, as described in Section 4.
• Authorities, when required by valid legal process.

6. Your Rights

You can access, correct, download, or delete your personal data at any time from your account settings, or by contacting support. Deleting your account removes your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (including ad personalization) — use the opt-out links in Section 4 or contact us via Support. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information we hold, request deletion, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; InkRoar does not sell personal information, and you can exercise your opt-out rights for ad personalization using the links in Section 4.

7. Data Security and Retention

Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access is restricted internally. We retain data only as long as your account is active or as needed for the purposes above.

8. Children

InkRoar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data or show personalized ads to them. Monetization features require users to be 18 or older.

9. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy — including changes to how we use advertising cookies — we will notify you on the Service before they take effect and update the date at the top of this page.
